Upgrading skylights with a roof replacement.
The owners of this residence built in 1985 in Franktown’s Bannockburn subdivision made a wise choice. When their roof required replacement, they chose to update their seven skylights along with it.
This post will deal with the two square venting acrylic domes that are located at the back of the house.

Since the curb and flashing are part of the roof, installing curb mounted skylights is best done after the new roof is installed. We then replace the two existing skylights with two VELUX VCS 3030 solar operated skylights.
These skylights, operated by a touch controlled remote, are a significant upgrade from the original manually operated dome skylights. Not only do they provide a clear sky view, they have superior energy performance.
